In brief
- Six game-worn Air Jordans from Jordan’s six title-clinching games sold for $8 million at Sotheby’s in 2024.
- The record for one pair is $2.2 million, for Air Jordan 13s worn in the 1998 NBA Finals.
- The Flu Game Air Jordan 12s sold for $1.38 million in 2023, up from about $105,000 in 2013.
- Every top price was paid for shoes Michael Jordan wore in games, not for retail pairs.
As of October 2026, the most expensive Air Jordans ever sold are six game-worn sneakers from Michael Jordan’s six NBA title-clinching games, which fetched $8 million at Sotheby’s in February 2024. The record for a single pair is $2.2 million, paid in April 2023 for the Air Jordan 13s he wore in the 1998 NBA Finals.
Every pair on this list was worn by Michael Jordan himself. Retail and resale Jordans, even rare collaborations, sell for far less. What drives these prices is provenance: a specific game, a photo match and, often, Jordan’s signature.

1. Championship game Air Jordans: $8 million
In February 2024, Sotheby’s in New York sold six individual Air Jordan sneakers that Michael Jordan wore in the deciding games of each of his six NBA Finals wins with the Chicago Bulls. The set sold for $8 million.

The value comes from completeness. Collecting one shoe from each title game in a single lot is close to impossible, and the six are known as the Dynasty Collection.
2. Air Jordan 13 Bred (1998 NBA Finals): $2.2 million
This is the most expensive single pair of sneakers ever sold at auction. Jordan wore the black and red Air Jordan 13s in Game 2 of the 1998 NBA Finals, a 93 to 88 win over the Utah Jazz, then signed each shoe in silver.
Sotheby’s sold them on 11 April 2023 for $2.2 million including fees, against an estimate of $2 to $4 million. The hammer price was $1.8 million.
The 1998 season was Jordan’s last with the Bulls, the one shown in the documentary The Last Dance. That link has pushed up prices for almost every item from that year.
3. Air Jordan 12 Flu Game (1997 NBA Finals): $1.38 million

Jordan wore these black and red Air Jordan 12s in Game 5 of the 1997 NBA Finals, when he played through illness and scored 38 points against the Utah Jazz. The game became known as the Flu Game.
After the game, he signed the shoes and gave them to Jazz ball boy Preston Truman. Truman first sold them in 2013 for about $104,765.
Ten years later, in June 2023, the same pair sold at Goldin Auctions for $1.38 million, more than 13 times the earlier price.
4. Air Jordan 1 Shattered Backboard: $615,000

In the summer of 1985, Jordan smashed a backboard with a dunk during a Nike exhibition game in Trieste, Italy. He was wearing these black, white and red Air Jordan 1s, and a small piece of glass is still lodged in the sole.
Christie’s sold the pair in August 2020 at its first dedicated sneaker sale for $615,000. At the time it was the auction record for any sneakers.
5. Signed Air Jordan 1 (1985): $560,000

These are among the first Air Jordan 1s made for Jordan in his rookie era, produced from February to April 1985. They have red laces and mismatched sizes, 13 on the left and 13.5 on the right. They were worn until Jordan broke his foot on 29 October 1985.
Jordan signed the right shoe. Sotheby’s sold them online in May 2020 for $560,000, more than 3.5 times the high estimate of $150,000, with bidders from six countries.
The sale came during the first broadcast of The Last Dance, which sparked a jump in demand for Jordan memorabilia.
6. Air Jordan 11 Bred (1996 NBA Finals): $482,600
Jordan wore these signed Air Jordan 11s in Game 5 of the 1996 NBA Finals against the Seattle SuperSonics. The Bulls lost that game 89 to 78 but went on to win the series.
He gave the shoes away after the game. Sotheby’s sold them in April 2024 for $482,600.
The Air Jordan 11, with its patent leather upper, is one of the most popular models among collectors, which helps keep game-worn pairs in demand.
Other notable pairs
A pair of 1984 Nike Air Ships worn by Jordan in his rookie season sold for $1.47 million at Sotheby’s in 2021. The Air Ship came before the first Air Jordan, so we have not ranked it here.
Drake’s custom solid gold Air Jordan 10 OVO, made in 2016 by artist Matthew Senna, is often quoted at about $2 million. It is a one-off commission that has never been sold, so its value is an estimate rather than a price paid.
How we ranked these
We ranked sneakers by the final price paid at public auction, including buyer’s fees where the auction house published them. Asking prices, private valuations and unsold pieces are excluded.
Several pairs from our earlier list, such as resale Air Jordan 12 OVO samples and signed retail pairs in the $10,000 to $100,000 range, have been pushed out by these game-worn sales. For more footwear, see our list of the most expensive Nike shoes in the world.
