In brief

  • Zack Snyder's net worth is estimated at about $60 million as of October 2026, a figure from Celebrity Net Worth that he has never confirmed.
  • His eight theatrical films as director have grossed about $3.18 billion worldwide, led by Batman v Superman at $874.4 million.
  • Army of the Dead reached 75 million Netflix households in 28 days, and Rebel Moon: Part One logged 23.9 million views in its debut week.
  • His 2026 film The Last Photograph premiered at TIFF on 13 September 2026 without a distributor.

Zack Snyder’s net worth in 2026 is estimated at about $60 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth as of October 2026. Snyder has never disclosed his pay, so treat it as a rough estimate. His money comes from directing films such as 300 and Man of Steel, Netflix deals and his production company, The Stone Quarry.

His films have taken more than $3.1 billion at the worldwide box office, but a director’s share of that is a small fraction, which is why his personal fortune is far smaller than the grosses suggest.

What is Zack Snyder’s net worth in 2026?

The most widely quoted estimate for Zack Snyder’s net worth in 2026 is $60 million. That figure comes from Celebrity Net Worth, which builds its numbers from reported deals, property records and industry pay norms rather than from Snyder’s own accounts.

Aliko Dangote Net Worth 2026: $54.5 Billion After Cement SurgeAlso readAliko Dangote Net Worth 2026: $54.5 Billion After Cement Surge

No major financial publication has valued him. Forbes and the Bloomberg Billionaires Index cover far richer people, and Snyder’s contracts with Warner Bros. and Netflix have never been published. Other websites repeat figures close to $60 million, but most copy each other, so we do not count them as separate sources. A fair reading is that he is a wealthy working director, comfortably in the tens of millions, and nowhere near the level of the people in our list of the richest people in the world.

What we can verify is the business around him: the box office his films earned, the size of his Netflix projects and the companies he runs. Those are covered below.

How did Zack Snyder make his money?

Snyder made his money in three stages: TV commercials in the 1990s, studio blockbusters from 2004 to 2017, and streaming films for Netflix from 2019 onwards.

After studying at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, he spent years directing advertisements for brands including Nike, Reebok, Gatorade, BMW, Audi and Subaru. Commercial work paid well and gave him the visual style that studios later hired him for.

His first feature, the 2004 remake of Dawn of the Dead, earned $103.5 million worldwide. The breakthrough came with 300 in 2007, which grossed $454.2 million on a modest budget and turned him into a director Warner Bros. trusted with large franchises. Watchmen, Legend of the Guardians and Sucker Punch followed, before he took charge of the DC superhero films with Man of Steel in 2013.

Directors at his level are usually paid a fixed fee plus a backend bonus if a film performs well. Snyder’s exact terms have never been reported by a trade outlet, so we do not guess at them here.

Zack Snyder box office: how much have his films earned?

According to The Numbers, the eight films Snyder directed for cinemas have earned $3,177,750,173 worldwide. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is his highest grosser.

YearFilmWorldwide box office
2016Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice$874.4 million
2013Man of Steel$668.0 million
2017Justice League$661.3 million
2007300$454.2 million
2009Watchmen$187.0 million
2010Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole$139.7 million
2004Dawn of the Dead$103.5 million
2011Sucker Punch$89.8 million

Two points matter for his wealth. First, the three DC films alone account for about $2.2 billion of that total, and that period from 2013 to 2017 was almost certainly his best paid. Second, Justice League in 2017 was finished by Joss Whedon after Snyder stepped away following the death of his daughter Autumn, so the theatrical cut is only partly his work.

Snyder also served as a producer on Wonder Woman (2017). Producer credits on DC films added to his income, although the size of those fees has not been reported.

The Snyder Cut and the Netflix deal

After a fan campaign, Warner Bros. paid to finish Snyder’s four-hour version of Justice League, released on HBO Max in March 2021. The extra shooting and post-production reportedly cost about $70 million. Snyder told Vanity Fair he was not being paid to finish it, saying he did not want to be beholden to anyone, as reported by SYFY Wire.

Army of the Dead

His move to Netflix began with Army of the Dead, a zombie heist film released in May 2021. Netflix said it was watched by 75 million member households in its first 28 days. Snyder directed, co-wrote and shot the film himself. It led to a prequel, Army of Thieves (2021), which he produced and Matthias Schweighöfer directed, and an animated spin-off in development.

Rebel Moon and the first-look deal

In July 2021 The Stone Quarry signed a first-look film deal with Netflix, with Rebel Moon as its first feature, TheWrap reported. Rebel Moon: Part One (A Child of Fire) arrived in December 2023 and Rebel Moon: Part Two (The Scargiver) in April 2024. According to What’s on Netflix, Part One logged 23.9 million views in its debut week, and Part Two drew 21.4 million views in its first three days.

The financial terms of the Netflix deal were not disclosed. The relationship has since cooled. In August 2024 TheWrap reported that Netflix would not continue the Army of the Dead franchise, and a third Rebel Moon film has not been confirmed. Snyder also created the Netflix animated series Twilight of the Gods, released in 2024.

The Stone Quarry: Zack Snyder’s production company

The Stone Quarry is the company through which Snyder develops and produces his films. He runs it with his wife and producing partner Deborah Snyder and executive Wesley Coller.

The business began in 2004 as Cruel and Unusual Films and was later renamed. It produced or co-produced most of his work from 300 onwards, and it was the signatory on the Netflix first-look deal. Owning the production company means Snyder earns producer fees on top of directing fees, and it gives him a vehicle for independent projects when studio work dries up. The Stone Quarry’s revenue and valuation are private.

Zack Snyder’s 2026 projects: The Last Photograph

Snyder’s confirmed 2026 project is The Last Photograph, a small war drama he has wanted to make since the late 2000s. Deadline reported in August 2025 that Stuart Martin and Fra Fee would star, and the film had its world premiere in the Special Events section of the Toronto International Film Festival on 13 September 2026.

Snyder directed and shot the film, and The Stone Quarry produced it with Hollywood Gang Productions. The story follows a former DEA agent and a war photographer who saw the faces of the killers he is hunting. Reviews were split: Deadline’s Pete Hammond was positive, while The Hollywood Reporter called it a misfire, according to a round-up by PetaPixel.

The film premiered without a distributor, and no US cinema or streaming date had been announced as of October 2026. Any sale to a distributor would be his next clear source of income. Reports that he is working on a new project with Paramount and Skydance have not been confirmed by Variety, Deadline or The Hollywood Reporter, so we leave them out.

Assets: homes, cars and investments

Little is known about Snyder’s assets. Celebrity Net Worth says Warner Bros. bought him an Aston Martin Vanquish worth about $350,000 after the success of 300. It is a fraction of the price of the cars in our guide to the most expensive cars in the world.

No property purchases or sales by Snyder have been reported by major outlets, and he has no publicly disclosed investments outside his own company. Much of his wealth is likely tied to The Stone Quarry and to backend payments from earlier films.

Early life and personal life

Zack Snyder was born on 1 March 1966 in Green Bay, Wisconsin. He studied at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena before moving into commercials.

He is married to Deborah Snyder, who is also his business partner, making them one of Hollywood’s longer-running creative couples, though well below the names in our list of the richest celebrity couples in the world. Celebrity Net Worth reports he has eight children, four biological and four adopted. His daughter Autumn died in 2017. Since then Snyder has raised money for suicide prevention charities, including more than $430,000 through merchandise, according to the same source.

How we calculated this

We started with the only published estimate, Celebrity Net Worth’s $60 million, and checked it against what can be verified. Box office figures come from The Numbers. Netflix viewing figures come from Netflix’s own statements, as reported by TheWrap and What’s on Netflix. Details of The Last Photograph come from festival coverage and trade reporting.

We did not add our own valuation because Snyder’s fees, backend deals and company accounts are private. If Forbes, Bloomberg or a trade outlet publishes a figure, we will update this page.
