Most Expensive Golf Courses in 2026: Top 10 Green Fees

As of October 2026, the most expensive golf course you can pay to play is Shadow Creek in Las Vegas, with a green fee of $1,250 per player and a required stay at an MGM Resorts hotel. Turnberry’s Ailsa course in Scotland is second, with a published high-season fee of £1,000.

Green fees at top courses have risen sharply in the past three years. Many now also require a hotel stay, which pushes the real cost of a round well above the fee itself. The table below uses the latest published or reported fee for each course.

1. Shadow Creek, Las Vegas: $1,250

Shadow Creek was built by Steve Wynn and designed by Tom Fazio. It opened in 1989 on flat desert land north of the Las Vegas Strip, which was reshaped with hills, streams and thousands of trees.

According to Golf News Net, the green fee in 2026 is $1,250 per player. To book, you must stay at an MGM Resorts hotel in Las Vegas, such as Bellagio, Aria or MGM Grand. The fee includes a limousine transfer and a personal concierge, but caddies are paid for separately.

The course has hosted the CJ Cup on the PGA Tour in 2021 and now hosts an LPGA Tour event, so its condition is kept at tournament level.

2. Turnberry (Ailsa), Scotland: £1,000

The Ailsa course at Trump Turnberry sits on the Ayrshire coast, with its lighthouse beside the ninth hole. It has hosted The Open four times, most recently in 2009.

National Club Golfer lists its published high-season fee for summer 2026 at £1,000, the highest of any course in Britain and Ireland. The rate can drop to about £475 with a hotel stay, or £650 for a late-afternoon tee time.

3. TPC Sawgrass Stadium Course, Florida: $750

The Stadium Course, designed by Pete Dye, is home to The Players Championship. Its par-three 17th hole, with an island green, is one of the best-known holes in golf.

Golf News Net reports a 2026 peak rate of $750, up $50 from 2025. Summer rounds from June to August cost $550. In the weeks after The Players, dynamic pricing can push the fee to nearly $1,000. The fee includes a cart, a forecaddie and range balls, though the forecaddie tip is extra.

4. Pebble Beach Golf Links, California: $695

Pebble Beach runs along the cliffs of Carmel Bay and has hosted the US Open six times. It is due to host the US Open again in 2027.

The green fee was $675 until 31 March 2026 and rose to $695 from 1 April 2026, according to Golf News Net. Tee times booked more than two days ahead require at least two nights at a resort property, with rooms starting at about $800 a night. Cart fees and caddies are extra.

5. Kiawah Island Ocean Course, South Carolina: $650

The Ocean Course was designed by Pete Dye and opened for the 1991 Ryder Cup. It hosted the PGA Championship in 2012 and 2021, when Phil Mickelson became the oldest major winner.

Links Magazine lists its peak green fee at $650, the highest of Kiawah’s five courses. Wind off the Atlantic makes it one of the toughest courses in the US.

6. Kingsbarns Golf Links, Scotland: £486

Kingsbarns opened in 2000 on the Fife coast, a few miles from St Andrews. Every hole has a view of the North Sea, and it is one of the three courses used for the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.

National Club Golfer lists its summer 2026 green fee at £486, more than the Old Course at St Andrews at £355.

7. Adare Manor, Ireland: €550

Adare Manor in County Limerick was rebuilt by Tom Fazio and will host the Ryder Cup in 2027. HITC reports that it charges €550 in 2026, the most for any course in Ireland.

In 2026, the course is open only to guests of the Adare Manor hotel, so a round also needs a hotel booking.

8. Old Head Golf Links, Ireland: €500

Old Head sits on a headland near Kinsale in County Cork, with cliffs on almost every side. It is a private members’ club that takes visitors only from April to October.

Its 2026 green fee is €500, according to HITC and National Club Golfer, the second highest in Ireland after Adare Manor.

9. Pinehurst No. 2, North Carolina: $595

Pinehurst No. 2 was designed by Donald Ross and hosted the US Open in 2024, won by Bryson DeChambeau. Outside major events, it is open only to Pinehurst Resort guests on a two-night minimum stay.

Golf.com reported in 2024 that a second round on No. 2 cost $595 in peak season, with a $250 surcharge to add No. 2 to packages that do not include it. Caddies are extra.

10. Whistling Straits, Wisconsin: $555

The Straits Course, another Pete Dye design, runs along Lake Michigan in Kohler. It hosted the 2021 Ryder Cup and three PGA Championships.
