Most Expensive Ferrari in the World: Top 10 Ranked for 2026

As of October 2026, the most expensive Ferrari ever sold at auction is a 1962 330 LM / 250 GTO that made $51.7 million at RM Sotheby’s New York in November 2023. A 1963 250 GTO reportedly changed hands privately for about $70 million in 2018, the highest price known for any Ferrari.

Classic Ferrari racing cars from the late 1950s and 1960s fill most of this list. Two new cars, both one-off charity lots, have also entered the top 10 in the last two years. Prices include buyer’s premium unless stated otherwise.

The 10 most expensive Ferraris at a glance

The 250 GTO appears three times. Only 36 were built between 1962 and 1964, and they rarely come up for sale, which is why each sale tends to set or come close to a record.

1. 1963 Ferrari 250 GTO (4153 GT): $70 million (reported)

Chassis 4153 GT has a long period racing history from the 1960s and is one of the best known of the 36 GTOs. In 2018 it was widely reported to have been sold privately to David MacNeil, founder of WeatherTech, for about $70 million.

The sale price was never officially confirmed, so it is listed here as reported. If correct, it remains the highest price ever paid for a Ferrari.

2. 1962 Ferrari 330 LM / 250 GTO (3765): $51.7 million

This car is the most expensive Ferrari ever sold at public auction. It was a Ferrari factory entry at the 1962 Le Mans 24 Hours and won its class at the Nürburgring 1,000 km the same year, finishing second overall.

It is the only GTO first fitted with a 4-litre engine and the only 1962 GTO raced by Scuderia Ferrari itself. Ohio collector Jim Jaeger owned it for nearly four decades before RM Sotheby’s sold it in New York on 13 November 2023. The hammer price was $47 million, or $51.7 million with fees.

3. 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO (3413 GT): $48.4 million

This 250 GTO sold at RM Sotheby’s Monterey sale in August 2018 and held the Ferrari auction record for five years. It had a successful racing career in Italy in the early 1960s.

The result was the highest price for any car sold at auction at the time, until it was passed by a Mercedes-Benz in 2022.

4. 2026 Ferrari Luce “Tailor Made”: $40 million

The Luce is Ferrari’s first fully electric model. This one-off “Tailor Made” example was sold as a charity lot at RM Sotheby’s Monterey sale in August 2026 for $40 million.

According to Motorious, it set records for the most expensive new car, the most expensive electric car and the most expensive charity lot ever sold at auction. It was the second-highest price of the whole 2026 Monterey Car Week.

5. 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO (3851 GT): $38.1 million

Chassis 3851 GT sold at Bonhams’ Quail Lodge auction in California in August 2014 for $38.1 million. It was the Ferrari auction record until 2018.

The price was the highest for any car at auction at that time.

6. 1957 Ferrari 335 S Spider Scaglietti: $35.7 million

The 335 S was a works sports racing car built to compete with Maserati and Jaguar in 1957. This car raced in the Mille Miglia and at Le Mans and was driven by stars of the era including Stirling Moss and Mike Hawthorn.

It sold at Artcurial’s Rétromobile sale in Paris in February 2016 for €32.1 million, about $35.7 million at the time.

7. 1956 Ferrari 290 MM: $28.05 million

The 290 MM was built to win the Mille Miglia road race in Italy. This car was driven by Juan Manuel Fangio in the 1956 race.

RM Sotheby’s sold it in New York in December 2015 for $28.05 million.

8. 1967 Ferrari 275 GTB/4*S N.A.R.T. Spider: $27.5 million

Only 10 of these open-top 275s were built for Luigi Chinetti’s North American Racing Team, the main importer of Ferraris to the United States in the 1960s.

This car had been owned by the same family since new and sold at RM Sotheby’s Monterey in August 2013 for $27.5 million. Proceeds went to charity.

9. 2025 Ferrari Daytona SP3 “Tailor Made”: $26 million

This one-of-one Daytona SP3 was built outside the regular run of 599 cars, with exposed carbon fibre and Giallo Modena paint. It sold at RM Sotheby’s Monterey in August 2025 for $26 million, with proceeds going to The Ferrari Foundation.

RM Sotheby’s called it the most valuable new car ever sold at auction, a record the Luce broke a year later.

10. 1963 Ferrari 250 P: $18.7 million

The 250 P was a mid-engined Ferrari sports prototype, and the model won the Le Mans 24 Hours in 1963. A 1963 example sold at Gooding Christie’s during Monterey Car Week in August 2026 for $18,705,000.

It was one of seven Ferraris to sell for more than $10 million that week.

Modern Ferraris are also setting records. At Monterey in August 2026, a 2023 Daytona SP3 sold for $17.8 million, a 1996 F50 made $14.6 million at Mecum, a 2003 Enzo sold for $12.1 million and a 1985 288 GTO set a model record of $11.6 million.
