Sotheby’s sold the set in New York for $8,032,800, a record for game-worn sneakers. It was sold as a single lot, so the price covers all six shoes.
2. Air Jordan 13, 1998 NBA Finals: $2.2 million
Jordan wore this pair of black and red Air Jordan 13s in Game 2 of the 1998 NBA Finals against the Utah Jazz, during the season shown in the documentary “The Last Dance”. He signed the shoes after the game.
The pair sold at Sotheby’s in 2023 for about $2.2 million, then a record for a single pair of game-worn sneakers. It remains the most expensive single pair of Nike shoes sold at auction.
3. Nike Air Yeezy 1 prototype: $1.8 million

Kanye West wore these prototype Nike Air Yeezy 1s when he performed at the 2008 Grammy Awards. They were made before the Air Yeezy went on sale to the public in 2009.
The shoes were sold through Sotheby’s in a private sale in 2021 for $1.8 million. At the time it was the highest publicly recorded price for a pair of sneakers.
4. Nike Air Ship, 1984: $1.47 million
The Air Ship was the shoe Jordan wore at the start of his rookie season in 1984, before the first Air Jordan was ready. This pair was worn in one of his first NBA games with the Bulls.
It sold at Sotheby’s in 2021 for $1.47 million. The Air Ship is important to collectors because it led directly to the Air Jordan 1.
5. Air Jordan 12 “Flu Game”: $1.38 million
Jordan wore these Air Jordan 12s in Game 5 of the 1997 NBA Finals while visibly ill, scoring 38 points in a win over the Utah Jazz. The game became one of the best-known in his career.
The shoes reportedly sold for $1.38 million at auction. Jordan gave them to a ball boy after the game, which is how they entered the collector market.
6. Air Jordan 1 “Shattered Backboard”: $615,000
Jordan wore this pair during a 1985 exhibition game in Italy, where one of his dunks shattered the backboard. A small piece of glass is still lodged in the sole of one shoe.
Christie’s sold the pair in August 2020 for $615,000, below its estimate of $650,000 to $850,000 but a record for sneakers at the time.
7. Air Jordan 1, 1985 game-worn: $560,000

This signed, game-worn pair of Air Jordan 1s comes from Jordan’s rookie season. The shoes were sold by Jordan Geller, founder of the Shoezeum sneaker museum.

These Air Jordan 11s are from the 1996 NBA Finals, when the Bulls beat the Seattle SuperSonics to complete a season with a then-record 72 regular season wins.
The pair reportedly sold for $482,600. The Air Jordan 11, with its patent leather upper, remains one of the most popular retro releases Nike makes.
9. Nike “Moon Shoe”, 1972: $437,500
The Moon Shoe is a handmade running shoe designed by Nike co-founder Bill Bowerman for the 1972 US Olympic trials. It used an early version of the waffle sole that helped build Nike’s name.
Only about 12 pairs are thought to exist. One sold at Sotheby’s in July 2019 for $437,500, then a sneaker auction record.
10. Air Jordan 7, 1992 Olympics: $114,300
Jordan wore Air Jordan 7s with the US “Dream Team” at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, where the team won gold. This pair reportedly sold for $114,300.
Olympic Jordans are rarer than regular season pairs, as he played only a small number of games in them.
Most expensive Nike shoes you can buy on the resale market
Unworn retail pairs sell for much less than game-worn shoes, but some still reach five figures on resale sites. The best known are the Nike SB Dunk Low “Paris”, made in a run of about 150 to 200 pairs, and the self-lacing Nike Air Mag from 2016, of which 89 pairs were released for charity.
Resale prices for these pairs change from month to month, so we have not listed fixed figures. Many of Jordan’s own fortune and endorsement figures are covered in our list of the richest basketball players in the world.
How we ranked these
We ranked shoes by the final sale price, including buyer’s premium where reported. We included only Nike and Air Jordan shoes, as Jordan Brand is part of Nike. Where the auction house or date could not be confirmed, the price is marked as reported.
Earlier versions of this list used resale prices for retail sneakers, which are now far below the auction records above.
