Larry Page is worth $232.3 billion, according to Forbes’ real-time billionaires list last updated on 2 November 2026. That keeps the Google co-founder at No. 3 in the world, but it is well below where he stood a week ago, after Alphabet’s third-quarter results knocked more than 12% off its share price.

What happened to Alphabet’s share price

Alphabet reported its third-quarter numbers after the US market closed on Wednesday 28 October. Revenue came in at $127.6 billion against the $128.2 billion analysts had expected, and earnings per share were $2.12 against forecasts of $2.99.

Not everything was weak. Google Cloud revenue more than doubled to $30.7 billion, up 103% on the same quarter last year. Search, the company’s core business, grew 12% to $63.4 billion, short of the 15% growth analysts wanted, while capital spending reached $51.4 billion for the quarter as the company keeps pouring money into AI data centres.

The market focused on the miss and the spending. On Thursday 29 October the shares fell more than 12%, from $321.89 to $283.29. Forbes calculated that Page lost $31 billion on paper that morning, with fellow co-founder Sergey Brin losing $29 billion.

Where the fortune comes from

Almost all of Page’s wealth is Alphabet stock. He and Brin each own about 3% of the company, making them its largest individual shareholders, and together they hold a majority of the voting power through Alphabet’s dual-class share structure. That control is why his net worth moves so sharply with each earnings report.

The swings work in both directions. On 30 April, after a strong first quarter, Forbes put Page at $300.9 billion, the first time his fortune had crossed $300 billion, and ranked him second in the world. Six months later he is about $68 billion lower.

How Page built Google

Page was born on 26 March 1973 in Lansing, Michigan. He studied computer engineering at the University of Michigan and then computer science at Stanford, where he met Brin. The pair incorporated Google in 1998, and the company went public on 20 August 2004.

Page ran Google as chief executive in its early years, handed the job to Eric Schmidt in 2001 and returned as CEO in April 2011. When Google reorganised under the Alphabet holding company in 2015, he became Alphabet’s chief executive. He stepped back from that role in December 2019 but remains a board member and controlling shareholder.

Spending and side projects

Page keeps a lower public profile than most people at the top of the rich list. Much of his known spending has gone into long-term technology bets. He backed Calico, a longevity research company launched under Google in 2013, and funded Kitty Hawk, a flying-car start-up that wound down in 2022. In 2023 he founded Dynatomics, an AI manufacturing company based in Palo Alto.

The best-known luxury purchase linked to him is the superyacht Senses, bought in 2011. His foundation, the Carl Victor Page Memorial Fund, gave $15 million in 2014 to fight the Ebola outbreak in West Africa.

How he compares with other billionaires

On the same 2 November Forbes snapshot, Elon Musk led at $878.5 billion and Jeff Bezos was second at $366 billion. Page sat third, ahead of Michael Dell at $218.5 billion, Sergey Brin at $213.9 billion and Mark Zuckerberg at $208.6 billion. The gap between third and sixth place is under $24 billion, so one more bad trading day could reshuffle the order.
